Release Date: January 31, 2012 City of San Antonio Communications Office: 207-7234 City celebrates Texas Heritage and gets ready to rodeo Donning cowboy hats and cowboy boots, the City's Downtown Operations Department and the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo today announced plans for the annual Western Heritage Parade. The free event is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012 in downtown San Antonio. Complete with chuck wagons and campfires, free programming is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Alamo Plaza. Radio Disney's Buckaroo Breakfast gives an opportunity for children to have their own Cowboy Breakfast and participate in rodeo-themed games. All are encouraged to come dressed in their best western wear. The Western Heritage Parade is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. on Houston Street from IH-35 (Christus Santa Rosa Hospital) to the Alamo. Just as the drovers did in the days of the Wild West, authentic Cowboys will guide an impressive heard of Texas Longhorns through Houston Street where only trails existed 100 years ago.
