City Manager appoints Center City Development Office Assistant Director

City Manager Sheryl Sculley announced the appointment of Brian James as the new assistant director of the Center City Development Office. James will begin with the City of San Antonio on December 16.

In his role as assistant director, James will supervise the Fort Sam Community Development Office and the implementation of the BRAC Growth Management Plan.

"We are looking forward to bringing Mr. James on board to continue working on development opportunities on the Eastside, spurred by BRAC growth," added Sculley.

Prior to joining the City, James worked for the City of McKinney, Texas. For the past three years of his 10 year tenure, he served as Deputy Director for Development where he led the Planning and Community Services Department overseeing engineering, building inspections and code services. In addition, James was involved in numerous economic development projects including facilitating a regional employment center, hotel conference center and Community College headquarters transportation project.

James holds a Masters in Public Administration and Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, both from the University of Texas at San Antonio. He is currently completing his Doctorate of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Dallas.
