Citizens reminded of neighborhood on-street parking regulations during Alamodome and downtown special events

With the 2008 Fiesta celebration just days away, the City’s Downtown Operations Department wants to remind citizens of the neighborhood on-street parking decal program rules for Alamodome and other downtown special events. This rule will be strictly enforced each day during the Fiesta Carnival starting Wednesday, April 16 through Sunday, April 27. Enforcement will be from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Monday through Friday and from 10:00 a.m. to midnight on weekends.

Only vehicles with City-issued event parking decals may park on neighborhood streets beginning two hours before the event, through the end of the event. Individuals can obtain an on-street event parking decal by calling 207-8266 between the hours of 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They may also visit www.sanantonio.gov/dtops/evt_prgdo.asp for a parking decal application.

Residential parking regulations will be in effect during all Fiesta events. Violations to the City’s front/side yard parking ordinance may result in a parking citation and/or a significant fine to the property owner.

In addition to front/side yard parking, event goers who park in vacant lots or other non-permitted parking areas may be subject to having their vehicle towed at their expense.

The City is encouraging Fiesta participants to adhere to all City codes to ensure a safe environment for all citizens who are attending these events. Citizens are asked to call 3-1-1 to report possible parking violations.
