Fiesta 2009 events to close certain streets

Fiesta 2009 kicks off this Thursday, April 16.  Motorists will be diverted as the City closes several downtown and other streets to accommodate each event. Listed below are street closures and associated closure times for each of these events:

FIESTA FIESTA AT THE ALAMO (Opening Ceremony)

Street closures from 8:00 a.m. Thursday, April 16 until 3:00 a.m. Friday, April 17

  • Alamo Street between Commerce and Travis closed to all traffic.
  • Houston Street between Broadway and 3rd Street closed to all traffic.
  • Avenue E between Houston and Travis closed to all traffic.
  • Blum Street full street closure.
  • East Crockett between Bonham and Losoya closed to all traffic.
     

FIESTA FANTASIAS AT MARKET SQUARE:

Street and sidewalk closure from 11:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 15 until 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 27

  • San Saba Street from Dolorosa to W. Commerce
     

SOUTHWEST SCHOOL OF ART AND CRAFT FIESTA ARTS FAIR:

Closed Friday, April 17 from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Sunday, April 19 from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

  • Augusta between Giraud and Convent open to one-way traffic southbound
  • Augusta between Navarro and Giraud closed to through traffic

Closed Saturday, April 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; Sunday, April 19 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

  • Augusta between Navarro and Giraud closed to all traffic
  • Augusta between Giraud and Convent open to two-way traffic
     

NIGHT IN OLD SAN ANTONIO:

Closed Saturday, April 18 from 8:30 a.m. to Sunday, April 26 at noon.

  • South Presa from Market to Nueva closed to all traffic
  • Alamo St. between Villita and Nueva southbound lane closed
  • Nueva from South Alamo to west of South Presa median and westbound lanes closed
Open daily Wednesday, April 22 to Saturday, April 25 from 4:00 p.m. to midnight.
  • S. Presa St. between Nueva and Arcienga open to one-way traffic southbound
     

Closed daily Tuesday, April 21 to Friday, April 24 from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.

  • Nueva St. from Presa to South Alamo eastbound lanes closed to through traffic
     

ST. MARY’S OYSTER BAKE:

The following streets will be closed on Friday, April 17 from 3:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday, April 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

  • Marquette between 36th Street to Camino Santa Maria
  • Overhill from 36th Street to Camino Santa Maria
  • Camino Santa Maria between Colgate to Wake Forest
  • Overhill from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Marquette from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Riverdale from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Bangor from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Globe from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Continental from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Lark from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Brandywine from Hillcrest to 36th Street
  • Belfair from Woodlawn to Overhill
  • Overhill from Camino Santa Maria to Duke
  • Marquette from Camino Santa Maria to Duke
  • Wake Forest Dr. from Camino Santa Maria to Stonegate
  • Fordham from Camino Santa Maria to Notre Dame

FIESTA MISSION RUN:

Street and trail closed Saturday, April 18 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

  • Padre Drive from East White to Pyron
  • Hike and Bike trail from Padre Drive and Pyron to Mission Espada
     

PILGRIMAGE TO THE ALAMO:

Street closed Monday, April 20 from 3:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

  • Auditorium Circle and Alamo Plaza from East Houston to Crockett
     

PARADES: BATTLE OF FLOWERS AND FIESTA FLAMBEAU:

Both parades will follow this route: Assemble at E. Grayson to Broadway. Head south on Broadway, east on 3rd Street, south on Alamo, west on Commerce, north on Santa Rosa. Disband on Martin.

Street closed from 11:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25 to 2:00 a.m. Sunday, April 26

  • Broadway from Newell to Jones Avenue (closed for bleacher removal)

Street closed from 9:00 a.m. Monday, April 13 until midnight Friday, May 1

  • Broadway from Jones Avenue to 10th Street (one lane on northbound east side)

Street closed from 9:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 22 to midnight Saturday, April 25

  • Broadway from Newell to Roy Smith (2 lanes closed on southbound westside)
     

KING WILLIAM FAIR:

The following streets will be closed on from 7:00 a.m. Friday, April 24  until 10:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25

  • E. Guenther from S. Alamo to S. Main
  • King William from E. Guenther to S. St. Mary’s
  • Madison from E. Guenther to St. Mary’s
  • Washington from Arsenal to Turner
  • E. Johnson from City to S. Alamo
  • E. Johnson and E. Sheridan from San Antonio River to S. Alamo
  • Beauregard and Turner from Washington to S. Alamo
  • Pancoast from Washington to Durango
  • Arsenal from Washington to Main

The following streets will be closed for King William Fair Parade from 7:00 a.m. until noon on Saturday, April 25 (or until conclusion of parade)

  • Eagleland from St. Mary’s to Guenther
  • E. Guenther between Eagleland and S. Alamo
  • Wickes from Eagleland to S. Alamo
     

ST. LUKE’S FIESTA FINALE:

Street closed Sunday, April 26 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m.

  • Manitou from Callaghan to Winlock
  • Winlock Drive from Horizon to Callaghan will be temporarily one-way with traffic flowing north to south (during this time)
     

Fiesta Funday Sunday Parade

Street closed Sunday, April 19 from 1:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • DeZavala Road from the west school driveway at traffic light to Brandeis; 2 lanes closed
     

10TH STREET RIVER FEST - SAM HOUSTON VFW POST 76:

Street closed Thursday, April 23 from 6:00 p.m. until midnight; Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 from noon to midnight each day

  • 10th Street from VFW Post 76 gate entrance to Avenue B
