Citizens reminded of neighborhood on-street parking regulations during downtown special events

As the city gears up for the NCAA® Men’s Final Four® this weekend, the City’s Downtown Operations Department and Housing and Neighborhood Services Code Compliance Division want to remind citizens of the rules for the neighborhood on-street parking decal program. This rule will be strictly enforced each day during the Final Four® events taking place April 5-7.

Only vehicles with City-issued event parking decals may park on neighborhood streets beginning two hours before the event, through the end of the event. Individuals can obtain an on-street event parking decal by calling 207-8266 between the hours of 7:45 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. They may also visit www.sanantonio.gov/dtops/evt_prgdo.asp for a parking decal application.

Residential parking regulations will be in effect during all Final Four® events. Violations to the City’s front/side yard parking ordinance may result in a parking citation and/or a significant fine to the property owner.

In addition to front/side yard parking, event goers who park in vacant lots or other non-permitted parking areas may be subject to having their vehicle towed at their expense.

The City is encouraging Final Four® participants to adhere to all City codes to ensure a safe environment for all citizens who are attending these events. Citizens are asked to call 3-1-1 to report possible parking violations.

Final Four® participants are encouraged to avoid traffic and parking hassles by taking the VIA Park and Ride. Visit http://www.viainfo.net/SpecialEvent/NCAA.aspx for details on VIA’s Park and Ride PLUS service to and from the NCAA® Final Four® events.
