How to Help Hurricane Katrina Victims

The City of San Antonio is encouraging citizens interested in helping with the Hurricane Katrina relief effort to make donations to the following organizations:
Monetary donations are still being accepted by the following:
 American Red Cross - 1-800-HELPNOW or www.redcross.org
 Salvation Army - 1-800-SAL-ARMY or www.salvationarmyusa.org or at 521 W. Elmira.
 San Antonio Food Bank - 210-337-3663 or www.safoodbank.org

Non-perishable food items and personal hygiene items can be brought to five H.E.B. locations this Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
 The locations include: 300 Olmos Drive at San Pedro; 6580 FM 78 at Foster; 7010 S. Zarzamora at SW Military Drive; 9900 Wurzbach Road at I-10; and Hwy. 281 and Loop 1604.
 Items most needed include: bottled drinking water, diapers and baby formula; single-serving snacks (Pop Tarts, cereal bars, etc); canned food items (chili, canned pasta, canned vegetables, etc); paper goods (plates, cups, tissue); and cleaning supplies (bleach and other cleaning products).

Clothing donations can be dropped off at KellyUSA, Building 11, 809 Davy Crockett.
Donations of blood also are needed: South Texas Blood and Tissue Center, 6211 IH-10 West or see www.bloodntissue.org.

To volunteer for local relief efforts, citizens can call 2-1-1.
