applications for new Neighborhood Applicants selected to participate in the program will be eligible to receive up to 25 trees to plant in an area no larger than 25-square blocks. The City anticipates that there will be two neighborhood projects and one commercial project selected per each City Council District. Planting sites located near active capital improvement projects and Metropolitan Planning Organization projects are not eligible for trees. In addition, if an applicant’s desired planting site is in a park, they must contact Richard Hurd in the Parks and Recreation Department at 207-7861 to verify a suitable water source, inquire about upcoming or planned park construction projects, and obtain approval in writing from the department. Applications and general information may be obtained at Keep San Antonio Beautiful located in the Environmental Services Department office at 1940 Grandstand. They are also available online for download on the Development Services Department website at www.sanantonio.gov/dsd. Applications were sent to all registered neighborhood associations. Completed applications are due in the City Clerk’s Office on the second floor of City Hall by 4:00 p.m. on Friday, July 14. Applicants can also mail their applications to the City Clerk’s Office, Attn: Dev. Svc. Dept. COSA Tree Planting, P.O. Box 839966, San Antonio, TX 78283-3966. Project selections will be announced in August. A mandatory training will be held in September for all program recipients and trees will be delivered for immediate planting starting in October.
