Voelcker Park Phase II Plans available for viewing at Open House

Citizens are invited to a Voelcker Park Phase II Open House scheduled from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30, at Coker United Methodist Church - John R. Gibbs Bldg. 1204, Upper Room, 231 E. North Loop Road.

Funds for Phase II were made available recently through a City Council Capital Improvement Budget amendment. Major elements, as outlined in the park’s Master Plan, tentatively include a playground, dog park and geology loop trail on the park’s east side and a Greater Oak Loop Trail on the west side, along with improvements at the south field to include a playground, dog run, two sports courts and additional picnic tables and grills.

Phase 1A is currently under construction at Voelcker and the first trail is expected to be open to the public later this year.
