Free First Friday shuttle service to begin
- Citizens reminded of residential parking regulations -

Beginning this Friday, December 4, a free shuttle service will be offered for First Friday participants as a way to control parking and traffic congestion. The shuttle will run every 25 minutes, approximately from 6:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.

To catch the shuttle, First Friday participants can park for free in the Durango parking lots located across the street from the Federal Courthouse Building. The shuttle service will make four stops starting at the Blue Star Contemporary Arts Center; then heading to Casbeers located at the corner of Wickes and South Alamo; followed by a stop at 1028 S. Alamo; a stop at 716 S. Alamo; and circling back to the Durango lots.

"The Southtown Chamber of Commerce is providing this shuttle service to minimize parking in neighborhoods during First Friday," said Councilwoman Mary Alice Cisneros. "We want to encourage participants to take advantage of this free shuttle service provided by the Chamber while respecting the residents of the King William Neighborhood."

The City also wants to remind citizens of the rules for the parking during this Friday's First Friday events and participants are advised to adhere to the City's parking restrictions within neighborhoods and maintain roadway access for emergency vehicles.

Participants should also use caution when parking near fire hydrants, parking within 25-feet of an intersection and parking against traffic.

In addition to parking regulations, participants are reminded that no open containers are allowed. First Friday features an array of locally made arts and crafts.
