City-wide Cleanup Day makes spring cleaning easy

Ready to start your spring cleaning. If so, the City is offering you the perfect opportunity to get rid of those old appliances, furniture, mattresses, tires and all of those other items taking up valuable space with their annual City-wide Cleanup Day on April 5.

City crews and trucks will be stationed at more than 20 convenient locations from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to assist residents who want to get rid of unwanted items. The City-wide Cleanup Day is available at no cost to residents who pay the City of San Antonio solid waste rate fee through their monthly CPS Energy utility bills.

A copy of a recent CPS Energy bill and photo identification will be required at the event as proof of residency and to obtain free disposal. Residents are asked to cover their items with a tarp prior to transporting to the site to avoid a potential "no tarp" fine in accordance with City Ordinance.

Residents are also encouraged to help cleanup the environment by recycling gas guzzling grass mowers. Individuals can trade in their old equipment at City's Bitters Road Brush Recycling Center, 1800 Old Bitters Road, and receive up to an $80 rebate off a new electric mower from CPS Energy.
