Early voting for May 12 election begins April 30

Early voting for the May 12, 2007, Amendment, Joint, General, Special and Bond Election begins Monday, April 30. As part of this election, the City will ask voters to consider candidates for Mayor and City Council seats and to consider five individual bond propositions.

The Mayor seat and 10 Council seats will be on the ballot for City of San Antonio voters. Also, five City bond propositions, all part of a $550 million general obligation bond program, will include: Proposition 1 - Streets, Bridges and Sidewalks Improvements; Proposition 2 - Drainage Improvements; Proposition 3 - Parks, Recreation, Open Space, and Athletics Improvements; Proposition 4 - Library Improvements; and Proposition 5 - Public Health Facilities Improvements. Voters will be asked to consider each proposition individually. The program is the largest municipal bond program in San Antonio history. It can be achieved without a property tax rate increase. See www.sanantonio.gov/2007bond for more details, including an informational guide in English and Spanish, on the bond program.

As many as 17 entities are participating in the Joint election.

Early voting ends May 8. See www.sanantonio.gov/clerk for additional voting information.
