July Fourth Celebration Friday, July 4, San Antonio families are invited to celebrate our
national holiday with a day-long event filled with games, food, musical entertainment
and a beautiful display of fireworks over Woodlawn Lake Park during
the City’s official July Fourth Celebration. This FREE event is
sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation, in cooperation with the
San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. Opening ceremonies featuring city dignitaries and event sponsors will begin at noon on stage at the west end of the park. During the daytime, the best of San Antonio’s local talent will be featured leading up to the energetic and patriotic U.S. Air Force Band of the West taking the stage at 7:30 p.m. This patriotic performance will be followed up by the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza at 9:00 p.m., the highlight of the festivities. Children of all ages are invited to express their patriotism by dressing up in their finest patriotic costumes to participate in the popular Salute to the Red, White and Blue Parade, that kicks off around 11:00 a.m. Families who want to participate in the parade are asked to gather at the Woodlawn Lake Gym at the intersection of Cincinnati and Alexander at 10:00 a.m. Parade participants will be judged for best costume, most patriotic, best bike and best group. Everyone is invited to join in and winners will be announced on the main stage immediately following the parade. A new addition to this year's celebration is the Freedom Day 4 Miler Walk & Run sponsored by the San Antonio Road Runners. The walk/run begins at 8:00 a.m. and will start and finish at Woodlawn Lake Park. For registration information visit www.saroadrunners.com.
