New hours for Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Center

Beginning July 12, the Solid Waste Management Department will change operating hours for the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-off Center in order to better serve the San Antonio community and provide operating hours that are more convenient.

The facility will now be open from 7:00a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Fridays and from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The HHW Drop-off Center, which is located at 7030 Culebra Road, provides a safe environment for residents to dispose of household items such as paint, motor oil, antifreeze, pool chemicals, batteries and automobile tires.

Most household materials labeled "toxic", "corrosive" or "flammable" can be brought to the center. Materials should be kept in their original containers. If containers are deteriorated or leaking, transfer materials to a safe container and label the new container to properly identify the contents. Commercial and biomedical waste is not accepted.

This service is provided only for San Antonio environmental fee ratepayers. A copy of a CPS Energy bill must be brought to the HHW Drop-off Center for verification with proper identification. For more information on the new hours or for a complete list of items accepted, visit www.sanantonio.gov/swmd/emd/hhw.asp or call (210) 207-6400.
