Pool time
The City's Parks and Recreation
Department is happy to announce that the 23 outdoor swimming pools
open June 7. The pools are opened from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Tuesday through Sunday until August 10. General admission is free.
Swimming lessons, water aerobics and private rentals are available
for a fee.
Swimming lessons are available at 12 pools during the 2008 outdoor
pool season. The sessions run for two weeks Tuesday through Friday
and will be held June 17 through 27, July 8 through 18 and July 22
through August 1. There will also be some classes offered in the
evening at five pools. The cost for lessons is $25. For a complete
list of pools offering lessons visit the Parks and Recreation
website at
www.sanantonio.gov/sapar/swimming.asp.
Swimming is not the only form of exercise the public pools have to
offer this summer. Water aerobics are a great form of exercise that
is low impact and heart healthy. Classes are offered from 7:00 p.m.
to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. The cost is $25 for
a one-month pass for ages 15 or older. For more information on water
aerobic classes call, 207-3113.
Pool parties are also a great way to make a splash this summer.
Rentals are available for birthday parties, family reunions or any
other social events before or after normal operating hours. Fees are
determined based upon the number of guests attending the event. In
addition to the rental fees, a fee will be assessed for the
lifeguards on duty. For a complete list of fees, visit
www.sanantonio.gov/sapar/swimming.asp.
There is a lot of fun to be had in the sun this summer so come out
and enjoy one of the San Antonio outdoor pool.
