Time to brush up on the rules for brush collection

Have you recently cleaned your yard and have a pile of brush to get rid of. Well, before you place that brush on the curb the City's Solid Waste Management Department wants you to get brushed up on the rules for brush collection.

City residential rate paying customers receive two scheduled brush collections a year. Items that can be collected through the City’s brush service include tree limbs, bushes, furniture, mattresses, appliances, barbecue grills, water heaters, small pieces of carpeting and passenger car tires (limit 6). Materials placed out before notification or after crews have passed is a violation and subject to fines up to $2000 a day.

The Rules:

1. Check your front door.
Has a yellow door hanger been placed on your front door? If so, then
it's your turn to have your brush and bulky items picked up. Brush collection will begin in your area on
on the date printed on your yellow door hanger.

2. Place your brush and bulky items on the curb. Materials must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on
the Monday of your collection week. Your items may be collected Monday or later that week. Be sure
to separate the brush from the other acceptable items that you want collected.

3. Crews pass only once. Crews will come by your house only once so remember to place your items
out at the required date and time. If you miss your scheduled collection, contact 3-1-1 to find other
    other disposal options.
