Brush up on brush collection

Is it time for a little spring cleaning? If you’re thinking about trimming your trees or putting that old mattress out for the garbage, hold on. Long tree limbs, mattresses and appliances are not picked up through your regular garbage collection services. Don’t dump these items on your curb. Wait until you receive a yellow brush collection notice letting you know it’s your turn to dispose of such items.

Every San Antonio resident receives brush collection services twice a year, approximately every six months. You are notified a week in advance of their scheduled brush collection when they receive their yellow brush collection notice. That is your opportunity to place tree limbs, furniture, appliances or other bulky items out for collection.

If these items are placed in your front yard before or after a scheduled collection, they become an eyesore for your neighborhood and may result in a code violation and fine. If you’re not currently scheduled for brush collection, call 3-1-1 and request a special brush collection for a nominal fee.

Residents are asked to brush up on brush collection and follow a few simple steps to utilize this service and keep their community clean. See www.sanantonio.gov/brush for tips on taking advantage of this service.
