Texas Recycles Day
The City's Solid Waste Management Department will celebrate Texas
Recycles Day from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 15 at
Woodlawn Lake Park, 1103 Cincinnati.
Texas Recycles
Day is a free event that takes place annually to help raise public awareness of the
economic and environmental benefits of recycling. The theme for this
year's Texas Recycles Day is “It all comes back to you" with an
emphasis on the four Rs: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Re-buy.
Recycling not only decreases the amount of garbage thrown away each
year, but it also conserves natural resources, saves energy and
reduces the amount of landfill space used. During the event,
apartment residents that do not have recycling at their complexes
will be able to bring their recyclable items to the park.
During the day-long event, residents can drop off gently used
clothing, furniture, televisions, and tennis shoes. Residents are
also invited to drop by the various informational booths that will
be available. Composting classes will be given and live
entertainment and food will be available. This is an event for the
entire family.
