National League of Cities two-steps into Texas

The City of San Antonio will be hosting the 2009 National League of Cities (NLC) Congress of Cities and Exposition November 10 through the 14 at the Henry B. Convention Center. More than 2,000 elected and appointed officials, local municipal government leaders, and exhibitors from across the country are expected to attend.

During the conference, attendees will receive the latest information on how to navigate through economic recovery, including hearing from federal agencies. Attendees will also discover the latest information about what cities are facing in the areas of public safety, economic development, public finance, infrastructure and sustainability.

General session speakers include influential political author and historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and actor and environmental activist Ed Begley Jr.

The National League of Cities is the oldest and largest national organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States. Its mission is to strengthen and promote cities as centers of opportunity, leadership, and governance.
