Texas Recycles Day

San Antonio celebrates Texas Recycles Day on Saturday, November 14, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Woodlawn Lake Park, 1103 Cincinnati. During this free event visitors can learn about the environmental benefits of recycling.

Visitors are also invited to bring their gently used appliances, furniture, clothing and electronics to be recycled. As well as all items accepted in the City's curbside recycling program.

There will also be on-site shredding at the event along with composting classes. Participants that take part in the composting class will receive a free compost bin. Concessions will be available along with great entertainment.

During the event, the Parks and Recreation Department along with the Solid Waste Management Department will unveil a new recycling pilot program that will take place in Woodlawn Lake Park. Sixteen recycling receptacles will be placed throughout the venue. Visitors to the park will be encouraged to use the recycling bins for their plastic water bottles and cans. The pilot program will take place during a six month period.

Recycling not only decreases the amount of garbage thrown away each year, but it also conserves natural resources, saves energy and reduces the amount of landfill space used.
