SAPD Swat takes first place in statewide competition

The San Antonio Police Department's (SAPD) SWAT team placed first during the annual Texas Tactical Police Officers' Association competition, which was held last month in Nacogdoches, Texas. The SAPD team competed against 19 other SWAT teams from across the state.

This is the seventh time that the team has taken top honors. The first place prize comes with a large trophy that the team dedicates to one of their fallen comrades John Rocky Riojas. Rojas was lost in the line of duty in 2001 which was the first year the SWAT team placed first in the competition.
