Holiday lights set to shine

Oh, the weather outside is not quite frightful but San Antonians are starting to feel delightful, as the Riverwalk gets set to glow, the holiday parade is ready to flow.

The holiday season is about to begin in San Antonio. The festivities begin with the annual Alamo Plaza Christmas Tree Lighting and Celebration from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27. The ceremony is free to the public.

After the tree lighting, residents can continue their merry fun by being a part of the Holiday River Parade and Lighting Ceremony sponsored by the Paseo del Rio Association. As part of this annual event, the switch is pulled to turn on thousands of lights, illuminating the River Walk until New Year's Day. Decorated floats wind through the river in one of the country's only nighttime river parades. For tickets and event details, call (210) 227-4262.

Other holiday events taking place downtown include the Feria de Santa Cecilia and Lighting of Market Square from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. November 27 through November 29 and Holiday Boat Caroling  on the River Walk from 6:15 p.m. until 9:15 p.m. November 28 through December 30.
