City offers residents a garage sale bargain

If you have reached your garage sale limit allowed by City Code, you may be eligible to hold a fourth sale at no charge. In October, City Council amended the City Code to allow residents to obtain a free garage sale permit if they have purchased three during the calendar year.

In order to take advantage of this program, residents must have purchased three garage sale permits in the calendar year and provide proof of purchase with the actual permit and/or receipt. Free permits may only be obtained at any of the City’s Community Link Centers or at the Development and Business Services Center. To better track these new provisions, free permits will not be issued at H-E-B Stores.

City Code allows for a limit of three garage sales per residential address each calendar year; however, only one garage sale is permitted every three months. In addition, hours of garage sales are restricted to 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and should not exceed two consecutive days.
