Senior road show to present information on safety issues, offer flu shots

The City/County Joint Commission on Elderly Affairs, San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, and Davis-Scott YMCA will present the third Senior Safety Road Show public information event of 2006 for area seniors on Wednesday, November 8, from 8:30 a.m. to noon at the Davis-Scott YMCA Center, 1213 Iowa St.

Seniors who attend will have the opportunity to hear invited speakers present information on senior safety issues such as ID theft, elder fraud/abuse, and home security. Additionally, clinical professionals from San Antonio Metro Health will offer influenza and pneumonia immunizations to senior attendees. Seniors who wish to receive immunizations at the event should bring their insurance cards to receive this service without charge. For seniors not enrolled in one of the designated insurance programs, the cost of the flu shot will be $25, and the cost of the pneumonia shot will be $35.

Agency exhibitor booths will also be presented to offer information and/or activities to attendees. Refreshments, finger foods and safety handouts will be provided. Door prizes will be given away. Admission is free.
