BOOtanica!
It's
creepy, crawly time in San Antonio, which means it's time for the
BOOtanica! Fall Festival. The San Antonio Botanical
Gardens invites you to bring your littlest gremlins and goblins to
celebrate the traditions of Halloween and the excitement of fall
gardening with them from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October
19.
The spooktacular activities for the day include pumpkin decorating,
plant sales, nature walks, games, crafts, a spooky science show,
storytelling and a creepy, crawly display. Don't forget to wear your
favorite haunting costume to be a part of the costume parade.
Visitors can take photos with pumpkins, scarecrows and brightly
colored fall cut-outs displayed on the concert lawn.
Besides all of the Halloween fun, visitors can celebrate the beauty
of fall with gardening demonstrations and a butterfly tent filled
with live, native butterflies. Vendors will also be selling plants
and City arborist Michael Nentwich will give away 100 native trees
(one per family as long as supplies last).
Garden admission is $7 for adults, $4 for children ages 3-13, $5 for
students, seniors and military. Admission is free for San Antonio
Botanical Society members. Group rates for parties of 15 or more is
available.
