SAPD officers
receive honors
The
San Antonio Police Department have something to be proud of as two
of their own receive top honors.
San Antonio Police Officer Pedro Garcia has been selected as the
2009 Police Officer of the Year by PARADE and the International
Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP). Officer Garcia was involved
in a shootout with a suspect, the rescue of an injured officer, all
while dodging bullets.
Officer Garcia will receive his honor this month at the IACP's
annual convention in Denver, Colorado.
The San Antonio community can also be proud of their top man in blue
as San Antonio Police Chief William McManus received the Community
Builder Award from The Grand Lodge of Texas Masons last month.
The award was designed to enable a Lodge to recognize outstanding
non-Masons who have distinguished themselves through their service
to the community, to the local, state or national government, to
their Church or Synagogue, or to humanity.
The City of San Antonio congratulates Chief McManus and Officer
Pedro Garcia on their awards.
