River Walk Stationary Designated Public Space
Vending Permit applications available October 12
Vendors who are interested in selling novelty items on the River
Walk at one of the six designated stationary sites will have the
opportunity to participate in a lottery drawing process on Friday,
November 13, at 9:30 a.m. at the Central Library Auditorium, 600
Soledad. To participate in the lottery, vendors must complete a
permit application and other necessary requirements. An
informational session to provide an overview of the program will be
held on Thursday, October 8, at 9:30 a.m. at the Central Library
Auditorium.
Vendors can apply for vending permits starting Monday, October 12.
All vendors, including those with current novelty vending permits,
must apply. Applications will be available at the Downtown
Operations Department located at 202 E. Nueva, Monday through Friday
(except holidays) from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. or accessed at
www.sanantonio.gov/dtops/vending. The deadline to submit
applications to participate in the River Walk Stationary Designated
Space Vending Lottery is Monday, November 9, at 4:00 p.m.
Two programs exist for vendor permits, one that applies to the six
designated public stationary sites and another for
privately-controlled property on the River Walk and at street level.
Each program has separate policies, procedures and application
processes.
For vendors who wish to sell novelty items on the River Walk at one
of the six stationary sites, a lottery process will be utilized.
Completed applications and other requirements are necessary for
vendors to be included in the annual lottery process for the
designated stationary permits.
Vendors who would like to operate on privately-controlled property
must also complete an application. In addition, they must obtain
permission from the business operator and/or property owner and
fulfill other requirements as specified by the program.
This application period marks the fourth year for the vending
programs, created following City Council approval of two ordinances.
The ordinances amended the Unified Development Code (UDC) and a City
Code both related respectively to vending on the River Walk and on
the street level in the downtown business district.
For additional information regarding vending programs on the River
Walk or in the downtown business district, contact the Downtown
Operations Department at 207-3677 or visit
