Graffiti Wipeout Volunteer Day

Help the City eradicate graffiti during the 5th Annual Graffiti Wipeout Volunteer Day on Saturday, September 27.

From 9:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. volunteers will roll up their sleeves and pick up paint brushes to help make San Antonio beautiful during this day of philanthropy. This year, each of the 10 City Council districts will team up with city staff to participate in various cleanup projects.

Besides painting over graffiti, volunteers will also participate in a variety of other cleanup projects including removing litter from neighborhoods and parks.

Volunteer efforts are integral to reducing the graffiti problem. Last year, 2715 volunteers participated in the Graffiti Wipeout which resulted in 404,957 sq. feet of graffiti being eradicated - a cost benefit of approximately $98,000 for the City.

The deadline to register for this year's event is Friday, September 12. If you are unable to volunteer for Graffiti Wipeout, but would like the opportunity to participate in other graffiti cleanup events, the City's Graffiti Abatement Program is establishing a year-round volunteer program called the Community Graffiti Volunteer Program.

For more information on the Graffiti Wipeout or the volunteer program, contact Lisa McKenzie at (210) 207-5430 or by email at lisa.mckenzie@sanantonio.gov.
