City-Toyota Green Clean-Up Project continues
-
The accomplishment
Last month, Toyota and
its on-site suppliers volunteered their time at more than eight area
parks and recreation centers throughout District 1 through 5.
Volunteer crews picked up trash; painted iron fencing, picnic
tables, curbs and railings; pruned bushes; cleaned playground
equipment; removed overgrown vegetation; and provided other
necessary maintenance.
By the end of the two weeks of this
joint venture between the City and Toyota, the clean-up team will
have volunteered over 17,000 hours of their time and saved the City
an estimated value of more than $273,235.
Toyota and its suppliers are dedicated to the San Antonio community.

Toyota's dedication
Toyota continues to make its mark on San Antonio. Besides working with
the City on the clean-up project, the manufacturer recently opened
up a Visitor and Education Center. The interactive museum
includes exhibits of exercises similar to those Toyota uses to train its workers and a
trivia game that lets visitors build a virtual truck by adding parts
each time they answer correctly. The museum also includes a working
assembly robot and a 1964 Toyota Stout pickup. In January, Toyota
will begin conducting tours of the San Antonio plant.
Since it's opening in 2006,
Toyota has produced over 226,000 full-size Tundra trucks.
