Community Bond Committees seek input
on proposed 2007-2012 bond program


Four Community Bond Committees have been created to obtain community input and analyze potential projects to be included as part of the City’s proposed 2007-2012 Bond Program scheduled for voter consideration on May 12, 2007. The bond program can be achieved without an increase in the City’s property tax rate.

San Antonio Public Library
named one of nation's best
The San Antonio Public Library is one of the 2006 recipients of the National Award for Museum and Library Service, made annually to libraries and museums that demonstrate a long-term commitment to public service through innovative programs and community partnerships. The award is given each year to only three libraries and three museums and is the highest honor the nation confers on such institutions.
Flu shots still available at area health clinics, other locations
It is not too late to get your flu immunization. According to the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District, flu activity doesn’t peak until February or later. Getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent the flu. More...

Celebrate the New Year right -
Don't play with fireworks

Residents are reminded that fireworks are prohibited in San Antonio. It is illegal for any individual to have, store, buy, or transport fireworks within the city limits. Violations may carry a fine of up to $2,000.
Reminder: Don't forget to recycle your Christmas tree after holiday
The City will pick up and recycle natural Christmas trees on Wednesday, January 10. Place trees at the curb by 7:00 a.m.

Winter weather has arrived in San Antonio. While many of us are eagerly anticipating the holidays, we cannot overlook the changes that also may come with colder temperatures.
 

City adjusts waste collection, other service schedules for holidays

City Hall and most municipal offices will be closed Monday, December 25 and Monday, January 1, to observe the Christmas and New Year’s Day holidays. In observance of the holidays, there will be no garbage or recyclable collection on Monday, December 25 or Monday, January 1. However, residents who are on the new two-cart automated garbage and recyclable collection will receive service on a “sliding schedule.”

Plan ahead when using the airport during the holidays

During the busy holiday travel season, San Antonio International Airport officials are recommending that patrons allow two hours for parking, check-in and security clearance. The Aviation Department and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) reminds travelers to follow these simple guidelines when using the airport during the holidays.
