ACS and local organizations team up to
offer "Nickel Neuter" for cats
The
number of unwanted cats in San Antonio far exceeds the number of
available homes. This leaves many loving and healthy felines in our
community with euthanasia as the only option. Neutering is the first
step to end this cycle and throughout the month of February, a
number of local animal groups, including Animal Care Services, will
be offering Nickel Neuter surgeries for cats.

Give Kids a Smile During National
Children's Dental Health Month
The number of Americans
without dental health insurance is more than twice the number of
those lacking medical health insurance and the U.S. Surgeon General
has declared a "silent epidemic" of untreated dental disease. Those
two statements alone should warrant concern for dental health
issues. But if they are not enough, consider this - your mouth is a
crucial gateway to your body, making oral health an essential part
of your overall health and well being.
That's why San
Antonio's public health team strongly encourages parents to find a
dental home for their children by the child's first birthday. This
will continue to be emphasized as Metro Health observes National
Children's Dental Health Month in February.
