San Antonio to celebrate 22nd Annual Martin
Luther King, Jr. March
The City's Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission invites residents to
come out and celebrate the 22nd anniversary of the nation’s largest MLK March on
Monday, January 19. This year's MLK march will have a
patriotic theme so individuals are encouraged to show their
patriotic spirit by wearing red, white and blue clothing.
Holiday "tree-dition"
Residents are asked to take part in a holiday “tree-dition” by
recycling their fresh cut Christmas trees. Residents who receive
automated collection are asked to place their tree out on Wednesday, January
7, while residents that receive manual collection are asked to
place their tree out on Saturday, January 10.
Trees should be placed out curbside no later than 7:00 a.m. on this
special scheduled collection day.
Intact Dog Permit
Did
you know many of San Antonio's "stray" dogs are actually owned
animals that have been allowed to roam and breed uncontrollably? Do
you know what happens to those animals? Many of those pets and their
off spring wind up at Animal Care Services (ACS) in the shelter's
adoption or rescue programs, but a number of those stray
animals do not.
Need tax assistance....Just ask VITA
Free tax assistance is available to San Antonio residents earning up
to $45,000 through the
Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program. VITA sites will open
January 15 and will stay open throughout the city until April 15.

Operation crews will drain and clean the San Antonio River.
Crews use heavy machinery to clean the concrete-bottomed
river channel that runs from Alamo Street on the south to
