July Fourth Celebration

Friday, July 4, San Antonio families are invited to celebrate our national holiday with a day-long event filled with games, food, musical entertainment and a beautiful display of fireworks over Woodlawn Lake Park during the City’s official July Fourth Celebration. This FREE event is sponsored by the San Antonio Parks Foundation, in cooperation with the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department.

Summer travel tips

It's officially summer which means millions of Americans are hitting the road to their vacation destination. But before you pack up the family and hit the door running, here are a few travel tips to assist you during this peak vacation season.


City services adjusted for Independence Day holiday
City offices will be closed Friday, July 4, to observe the Independence Day holiday. Garbage, recyclables and brush will be collected. All libraries and Municipal Court will be closed. Golf courses will be open. Police, fire, EMS personnel and animal care officers will be on duty.
National Night Out moves to the month of October
For the first time in history, the date for participation in National Night Out for the state of Texas has been changed. The event will now take place on Tuesday, October 7. This change will give Texans the opportunity to celebrate National Night Out during a cooler month.

Homeless Fair

The City's Community Initiatives Department's Homeless Services Division along with the South Alamo Regional Alliance for the Homeless will host an outreach event to provide basic needs, resources and assistance to area homeless families. The event will take place on Friday, July 25 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the American G.I. Forum, 611 N. Flores. For information, call (210) 207-5036.

Morgan Scott Ballet Performance

Houston Street Fair
The Houston Street Fair will take place on Saturday, July 26. The theme for this month's fair is Summer in SA. For more information visit www.sanantonio.gov/houstonstreetfair.
Foreclosure prevention workshop

The City's Department of Community Initiatives (DCI) in conjunction with the Alamo Area Council of Governments (AACOG) and the San Antonio Foreclosure Prevention Task Force will offer a free workshop to help San Antonio homeowners who are delinquent in their mortgage payments learn about resources that can help them from losing their homes.
 

New hours for Household Hazardous Waste Drop-off Center

Beginning July 12, the Solid Waste Management Department will change operating hours for the Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) Drop-off Center in order to better serve the San Antonio community and provide operating hours that are more convenient.  

Landfill Disposal Day

It's that time of year again. Time for everyone to clean out all of those unwanted items piling up in your closet and garage and take them to the City’s free landfill disposal day.
