City's $550 million bond election set for May 12

The City of San Antonio will hold a $550 million bond election on Saturday, May 12, 2007. The bond program focuses on basic infrastructure improvements and enhancements including streets, sidewalks, drainage, parks, athletic facilities and libraries.  
 


Free smoke detectors available for eligible San Antonio seniors
Did you know that one in three fire deaths in San Antonio are senior citizens? Many of these deaths may have been prevented if these residents had working smoke detectors in their homes. Free, installed smoke detectors are available to local senior homeowners and disabled residents. Eligible residents can call 2-1-1, Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m to 4:00 p.m., to request a smoke detector. Members of the San Antonio Fire Department will install the detectors at no charge.
City services adjusted for
upcoming Good Friday Holiday
City offices will be closed April 6, to observe the Good Friday holiday. Garbage and recyclables and brush will be collected. All libraries and Municipal Court will be closed. Golf courses will be open. Police, fire and EMS personnel, and animal care officers will be on duty.

Main Plaza Redevelopment: Downtown drivers, visitors

The first steps to transform the heart of downtown San Antonio continue with Phase 1 construction on the Main Plaza Redevelopment Project. Drivers are advised to be aware of the following upcoming street closure for Phase 2 construction which will get underway on March 10.

City looking for community input for 2008 budget proposal

In preparation for the FY 2008 Budget development process, the City of San Antonio has again initiated the Community Budget Input Dropbox program or c-BID. The c-BID is a forum for interested community members to offer their suggestions on how the City can increase efficiencies, generate new revenues, or make effective changes to service delivery.

The entire San Antonio Public Library system is now a wireless “hot spot,” with the initiation of free wireless Internet service at the Central Library and all branch libraries.
