San Antonio and Electric Vehicles
The City of San Antonio is preparing for the introduction of electric vehicles (both plug-in and plug-in hybrid) expected from multiple manufacturers over the next 1 to 3 years.
The Office of Environmental Policy, along with other City departments, is examining the City’s readiness for providing charging infrastructure in public and private locations, evaluating building code and permitting processes for their impact on the installation of home charging stations, and determining electric vehicles’ impact on the lifecycle costs of private and public fleet ownership.
San Antonio is working to be a leader as this new technology becomes more available and affordable.
