Shared Lane Markings (Sharrows)

Sharrow ExampleSharrows are a relatively new development for San Antonio. Sharrows are specialized road markings that identify the preferred space for cyclists to occupy in a travel lane shared with motorized vehicles. A more detailed description with examples and applications for sharrows is available in the Urban Bikeway Design Guide from the National Association of City Transportation Officials (NACTO).

The City of San Antonio is increasing bicycle parking options at popular public locations. You may see the unique racks designed by artist Barbara Levine around the downtown area. Read the News Release.

Are you a downtown business interested in installing your own bike rack? You must submit a Downtown Bike Rack Application for consideration.
