The Office of Military Affairs was established in January 2007 with support from the US Department of Defense Office of Economic Adjustment (OEA) to conduct a Growth Management Plan.
Mr. Murdock is a retired Air Force general officer with 32 years of proven success in leading people and managing large complex organizations. Prior to his retirement from the Air Force, he served as the last commander of the Kelly Air Logistics Center and was responsible for the base closure and realignment in July 2001.
Mr. Murdock received his Master's Degree in Personnel Management from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Davis and Elkins College, West Virginia. He currently serves on the Executive Board of Directors for United Way San Antonio, the Board of Directors for US0 San Antonio, the Board of Directors for Air Force Villages, and the Executive Board of Directors for ADC, Association of Defense Communities.
Mr. Murdock’s extensive experience in executive leadership and strategic planning makes him a valuable asset to the City.

As the City of San Antonio continues to set an example for the community
in the area of sustainability, the Office of Military Affairs (OMA) is
committed to the program. At the onset of the program in June
2011, OMA scored 61 of 100 points, at the Gold Level. In December
2011, OMA exceeded its goal, finishing with 72 points.
Our goal is to achieve Platinum status at 80 points.
