Here at the Parks and Recreation Department, we support and encourage your efforts to get healthy and stay that way through an active lifestyle. Choose from more than 200 parks with a variety of amenities to suit your favorite physical activity, whether it's jogging, hiking, bicycling, pumping up at our outdoor fitness equipment, swimming, playing basketball or swinging a tennis racket. Now that the holidays--with all those parties, sweets, and great meals-- are over, it's time to get back to the basics of eating healthy and staying active. The Parks and Recreation Department can help by offering you the chance to work out on outdoor fitness equipment, funded through a Metro Health Communities Putting Prevention to Work (CPPW) grant, in more than 15 parks. In some locations, you can jog along the trail and then stop to utilize the equipment. Others are arranged like outdoor gyms. All of them offer the opportunity to enjoy the great outdoors at the same time. So there's no excuse! Get active today. For more information, click below.
