2013 Summer Youth Program

The Parks & Recreation Department provides a structured supervised program for children at 23 Community Centers located throughout the City, as well as a number of school sites. In 2013, the program will run from June 17 to Aug. 9. The program keeps youth, ages six to 14, active by engaging them in a variety of safe, supervised, age appropriate activities such as traditional sports, craft projects, active games, art exploration, fitness and nutrition, as well as reading and math and science enrichment activities. Swimming opportunities will also be offered for program participants at limited sites this summer. All Community Centers and school sites will receive a free, hot lunch and snack for the entire program.

Registration for the community centers began April 6, 2013, and will continue until slots are full. Parents may register their children at the community center where they would like their children to attend. Community Center slots availability (05/18/2013) (Also includes SYP school sites)

The program follows self-monitored guidelines, which will limit the number of participants per site. SYP at Community Centers maintains a 1:25 Staff to participant ratio. Spaces are determined by the size of the facility - 40 to 125 slots. Participants will be grouped according to age and staff will conduct age-appropriate recreation activities at both the community center and school sites.
