Fitness in the Park is a year-round free fitness program that brings a variety of fitness activities to the citizens of San Antonio. Getting started is easy! Just take a look at the current schedule below and find an activity that intrigues you. There is no registration required and classes are open to all fitness levels.

Boot Camp Fitness Classes

Boot Camp Fitness Classes

Boot camp style classes include a variety of activities geared towards increasing endurance, power, strength, stamina, and speed. Exercises will also focus on flexibility and agility. Participants will be challenged to push themselves to the limit.

This moderately intense boot camp style class will surely get your blood flowing. The class is specifically designed for adults of all ages and abilities. Whether you’re looking to start your new exercise regime, meet new friends with a common interest, or if you’re looking into taking your training to the next level, this is the class for you. Body Combat

This fiercely energetic program is inspired by martial arts and draws from a wide array of disciplines such as karate, boxing, Taekwondo, Tai Chi, and Muay Tai. Supported by driving music, you will strike, kick, and punch your way through calories to superior cardiac fitness.

Body Flow

This class is a combination of yoga, tai chi, and Pilates that builds flexibility and strength. It will leave you feeling centered and calm. Controlled breathing, concentration, and a carefully structured series of stretches, moves and poses to music create a holistic workout that brings the body into a state of harmony and balance.

Mommy & Me Fitness Class

Mommy & Me Fitness Class This specialized fitness class allows parents to interact with their child while getting a light to moderate workout. Exercises are designed for parents with children ages 3 months to 3 years old.

Zumba

Crecer, Saber, Mover (To Grow, To Know, To Move)

Inspired by Jaime Zapata’s popular ‘Projecto Crecer’ and open to anyone with a desire to grow in health, this high energy dance class has Latino dance movement and steps from around the world. The focus is on body awareness and short histories of the calorie burning movements. Using community resources, the includes a monthly health and leadership workshop that focuses on physical, emotional, and relational wellness with tips for living a healthier lifestyle. *Space is limited to 30 people.

Kettle Bell Conditioning


The dynamic, sometimes ballistic movements of kettle bell training will get your heart rate up, challenge every muscle in your body and may be so different from your normal routine, you might actually have fun. If you've been doing the same workouts, kettle bell training can breathe new life into your exercise routine.

Aerobics

Aerobics is a form of physical exercise that combines rhythmic aerobic exercise with stretching and strength routines. The goal is to improve all elements of fitness including flexibility, muscular strength, and cardio vascular fitness. Come break a sweat to music and kick start your new health routine.

Walking/Stretching

Looking for a great fitness exercise that is good for weight management, cardio development, and muscle toning while being motivating, safe, and fun? San Antonio Walks gives participants the opportunity to learn from experienced fitness walkers who have devoted much of their lives to this invigorating sport. They will share unique tips on technique and development, helping you establish your own personal or community walking programs. All ages are welcomed!

San Antonio Walks at Roosevelt Park 331 Roosevelt

Join San Antonio Walks and the Mission Trailblazers for a trail walk along the Mission Reach between Roosevelt and Concepcion Park. In addition to walking, sessions will include discussion about proper attire and postures to reach the maximum benefit of walking, as well as visits from local health care providers to discuss overall health care.

Come enjoy a moderate to brisk 1 to 3 mile walk on the south lawn of our historical park which includes a cool down along the San Antonio River.

Stretch and Walk at Miller’s Pond 6175 Old Pearsall Road

Join us for a light social walk around the pond followed by a stretching class focused on breathing and stretching exercises. These exercises will increase range of movement in the joints, energy levels, circulation of the blood, and muscular coordination.

Using a variety of exercises that begin with core muscle engagement, Pilates will help strengthen and lengthen all muscle groups while increasing your balance, stability, and flexibility. Our kickboxing class is a high energy, non-contact, martial arts based workout. Using body weight exercises and athletic drills, you will strengthen your legs, core, and arms, while improving your balance, stamina, flexibility, and coordination.

Fitness in the Park: Just For Kids

Most experts say that every child should get at least 60 minutes of physical activity every day. It’s important that we make exercise a regular part of our children’s lives, so check out these great options to do just that! These free exercise classes are designed just for kids.

Kid Fit SA!
This class is geared towards kids ages 8 to 14. With the rise in childhood obesity across the country, it is vital that children learn healthy habits at a young age. This moderately intense boot camp style class will teach children how to improve their health through physical activity, nutrition, and positive choices. By incorporating fun games, music, and some crazy exercises, participants won’t even realize they’re getting a workout!
