This segment features a 1.7 mile segment of multi-use recreational trail with aspalt and concrete surfaces as well as natural surface off-shoot trails. The scenic route runs between bluffs that run along the east and north sides of the creek and also include Bottomland Hardwood trees. Hikers access the trail at the temporary trailhead near the Voelcker Homestead (1021 Voelcker Lane) in Phil Hardberger Park.
NOTE: Beginning on February 19, 2013, Voelcker Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic due to the construction of a parking lot and Salado Greenway trail extension. Park visitors (walkers and runners) will still be allowed to utilize the road/trail to access the greenway system and Hardberger Park. Staff has coordinated with the Hardberger Conservancy on this closure. Voelcker Lane will be closed to vehicular traffic for approximately 3 months. Signage is posted notifying park visitors of this closure. Parking is available at 13203 Blanco Rd. on the Eastside of Hardberger Park.
