Income verification process begins

for Summer Youth Recreation Program

Parents interested in signing their children up for the Parks and Recreation Department’s Summer Youth Program are encouraged to complete the income verification process in advance of the upcoming March 26 registration date.

Income Verification begins Monday, January 10, at all Parks and Recreation Community Centers during regular business hours; and at the Ron Darner Parks and Recreation Headquarters building, 5800 Old Highway 90 West, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Fees for the program are based on a sliding scale, according to income and family size. The fee schedule and a list of items needed to complete the process are available at www.sanantonio.gov/parksandrec.

Registration for the Summer Youth Program for youngsters ages six to 14 will be held at the department’s 24 year-round community centers from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 26. Registration for Summer Youth Program school sites will be held April 2 and April 9 with locations and times to be announced.

The Summer Youth Program, which runs from June 13 through Aug. 5, features recreation-themed activities including games, sports, arts and crafts, and a weekly enrichment program in fine arts, science and fitness/nutrition. The hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The program includes a free lunch and a snack.

After March 26, community centers that still have openings will continue registration during regular business hours until all slots are full. Slots range from 50 to 100, depending on the center. Click on Community Centers for a list of facilities. For more information, call 207-3000.
