2013 Volunteer Events

Help make our parks shine! Volunteers are needed for a variety of events this fall. All events are open to the public, but registration is required. If you are interested in participating in one of these events, please call 210-207-8603 or email meredith.ruiz@sanantonio.gov.

Attire: Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty. (i.e. paint or mud) Long Pants & layered tops are suggested. Closed toe shoes are required for safety
Helpful items to bring: Sunscreen, hat, insect repellent, sunglasses, Signed waiver (available online.)
We provide: Water, leather and latex gloves and other tools required for each job.

Weed Wednesdays
Hardberger Park has a unique diversity of both flora and fauna and that diversity is being threatened by exotic invasive weeds. WE NEED YOUR HELP to combat these weeds which include Australian and Kleberg Bluestem, wild mustard, and malta star thistle. Join us for Weed Wednesdays at Hardberger Park from 8:30 to 10:30 am. We will pull weeds as well as plant native plant material in treated areas. Each week will be at a different location within the park so please contact Wendy Leonard (210-207-3292 or wendy.leonard@sanantonio.gov) for details on meeting places.

Family Volunteer Days – 2013 Schedule
Looking for a way to introduce stewardship principles to your 5-10 year old? If so, join us for our Family Volunteer Day series! All programs are free and all supplies are provided. Each session incorporates a book reading, a fun craft activity and hands on stewardship activity.
