The Woodlawn Lake Community Association applied for the
Neighborhood Conservation District designation during
the 2008 - 2009 city-wide call for applications period. In the
summer of 2009, the Woodlawn area was selected as a candidate for the next
neighborhood conservation district.
A Neighborhood Conservation District
is an overlay zoning district
that contains design standards for new and rehabilitative development. Property
owners, together with Planning staff, develop the design standards
based on the character, form, and dominant architecture of the area.
These standards can address building height, size, massing,
signage, building orientation, sidewalk location, etc.
The oodlawn Lake Area Neighborhood Conservation District is a result of goals
established in the
Near Northwest Neighborhood Plan.
Boundary Area:
The boundary was determined, in part, by
the Woodlawn Lake Community Association boundary. It is bound
by Woodlawn Avenue to the north, Zarzamora to the east, Culebra to the
south, and General McMullen and St. Cloud to the west.
This boundary is conceptual and may change during the 9 - 10
month planning process.
