From letter dated January 5, 2006

Updated Public Access Producer information

On January 5, 2006 the City received notification from Time Warner Cable that the Public Access Channel (Channel 20) would no longer be available to the City of San Antonio. The City has the right to request that Time Warner Cable make the public access channel available once the City can meet the Senate Bill 5 requirement of providing at least 8 hours of daily programming. The City is in the bid process to obtain equipment necessary to implement the recommendation presented to City Council in December for the Public Access Channel. If the equipment required for public access programming is approved for purchase, the City will proceed with requesting that the Public Access Channel be reinstated. However, placement of the channel is at Time Warner Cable's discretion and there is no guarantee that it will be placed back on the basic cable tier.

In addition, to discuss your needs as a public access producer, the City invites you to participate in a stakeholder forum. The forum is scheduled for Tuesday, January 17 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at the Development and Business Services Center, Training Rooms A and B (Suite 249) located at 1901 South Alamo. Parking is available and a map has been enclosed for your convenience. Each individual or group will have 3 minutes to present their needs as a Public Access participant. A sign-up sheet will be available from 5:30 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.

The City has made available alternative methods of communication. If you are unable to attend the stakeholder's forum, you may contact the Office of Communications at (210) 207-7235, who will oversee the public access channel, or via e-mail. Please feel free to forward your comments to the City's Communications Office. In addition, there is a survey in the attachment below that can be mailed to the following address: Communications Office, P.O. Box 839966, San Antonio, TX 78283. The Public Access Survey also is available on this website.

We look forward to working with you.
