11/08: City introduces pilot program for new traffic signals

The City’s Department of Public Works will begin a pilot program on Thursday, November 13 to manage traffic when making left turns. Left turn signal displays will be replaced with Flashing Yellow Arrow (FYA) signal displays on San Pedro Avenue between Cypress and Olmos, and on Wurbach Road between Blumel Road and Elm Creek Road. The new displays will use different colored flashing arrow lights to control left turns.

 

1/09: Construction for East Downtown Quiet Zone

San Antonio – Construction for the District 2 East Downtown Quiet Zone will begin soon and has been scheduled to start on Friday, February 6, 2009. This is the second Quiet Zone established in the City of San Antonio. A Quiet Zone is a section of railroad track in which trains do not routinely sound their horn when approaching a railroad crossing. It can only be established after meeting federal safety standards for vehicles using the crossing.
