Operations Division

Welcome to the Storm Water Engineering & Operations Division of the Public Works Department! 
 

The Storm Water Operations Division maintains and operates drainage infrastructure to include, grading channels, erosion channels, concrete channel repair, facility cleaning and vegetation maintenance.

We work very closely with Storm Water Engineering to provide comprehensive, efficient and effective storm water management for our City.

Our Storm Water Operations Division is comprised of 4 very distinct programs and sections: 

  • River Maintenance

  • Street Cleaning

  • Tunnel Operations

  • Vegetation Maintenance

We maintain: 
250 miles of Earthen Drainage Channels
140 miles of Concrete Drainage Channels
1,189 acres of Street Rights of Way Drainage Channels
156 acres of Medians Drainage Channels
74 acres of Flood Buyout Properties Drainage Channels
1 mile of Natural Waterways Drainage Channel
498 miles of Underground Storm Sewers Drainage Channels

We sweep and clean:
1,866 gutter miles Arterial/Collector Streets
5,796 gutter miles Residential Streets
61 gutter miles of Streets in Central Business District (CBD)
13 miles of Sidewalks in the Central Business District (CBD)
8,000 Storm Sewer Inlets
