The Project Management Division is responsible managing the
development, design and construction of capital improvement projects under the purview of Public Works.
The following provides a summary of our division responsibilities.
Project Management We manage a wide variety of
drainage and street reconstruction that are funded through several funding sources. We are involved in
the project from the selection process all the way to the completion of the project. Some of our
responsibilities are:

Supervises consultants in preparing plans, reviewing designs,
and resolving design problems to ensure work meets City standards and conforms to project scope and contracts.

Coordinate internal and external agencies needed for project implementation.

Approves plans and specifications for construction contracts.

Assists in the receiving of bids and making recommendations for letting of contracts.

Identify Changes in project scope immediately to assure a proper
strategy is implemented to inform the parties involved, revise the
work plan, and report the effect of the changes.

Manage and monitor contractors during the constructions phase to assure
quality work, provide necessary construction guidance, provide progress
tracking, and progress of costs incurred.

Address citizens inquires and concerns during the construction of projects.
Technical Services
The objectives for these services include:

Provide Council with Guidelines and Recommendations for project
construction based on needs and preferences and incorporate the
projects into the planning and construction phases.

Providing project cost estimates that are valid, accurate, and are in conformance with the
City’s Standard Specifications and industry standards.

Coordinate other City Departments, Contractors, Council, and Citizens to discuss project
progress, budget, and issues if any.

Assist other divisions with managing of projects during the construction phase through the
use of the Division’s contract with outside consultants.
