The Patrol Division is divided into PATROL NORTH and PATROL SOUTH.
PATROL NORTH is commanded by Deputy Chief Anthony Muro (e-mail) . PATROL SOUTH is commanded by Deputy Chief Roy Waldhelm (e-mail). Patrol is the largest of the four SAPD divisions, with more than 1,100 of the total 2,085 SAPD sworn officers. Deputy Chief Muro is in charge of North, Prue (NW) and East Substations, and Deputy Chief Waldhelm is in charge of West, South and Central Substation, and the Downtown Bicycle Patrol.

police car Police officers at each substation are assigned to patrol districts within the substation area and these uniformed officers, in their marked patrol cars, are the first responders when citizens "call the police."
