Community Safety & Education Division

SAFD’s Community Safety & Education Division directs and monitors the department’s many programs and activities focused on fire prevention and safety issues. The division uses a mix of published safety information, community programs and youth-oriented activities to get the message out. Many of the division’s outreach efforts focus primarily on children. Our experience shows that when you reach out to the kids, it reaches the entire family—and ultimately raises the level of health and safety for all. So it is through educating the children that we work to promote a fire safe environment in San Antonio homes. Public Appearances In addition to our many programs, department personnel are available to participate in health and safety fairs, career days and general fire safety presentations. Quick Fact In 2007, the Community Safety & Education Division conducted or participated in over 500 programs or activities reaching over 117,000 San Antonio citizens.
Fire Prevention for Business Fire extinguisher training, fire warden training, and fire drill observation and evaluation are provided free of charge to schools, businesses, and organizations requesting these services.
