Salary – Base Pay

Fire Cadet	$2,300.00
Probationary Firefighter, thru 18th month	$3,900.00
19th month thru 60th month	$4,329.00
Beginning 61st month	$4,412.00

Other Pay

Additional dollar amounts may be added to a Firefighter’s base pay to compensate for longevity and certain skill sets.

Other Pay
Longevity Pay	A Firefighter's base pay increases by 3% for each five (5) years of longevity to a maximum of thirty (30) years or eighteen percent (18%).
Language Skills	$50.00 per month

Education Pay
Associate Degree	$185.00 per month
Bachelor Degree	$290.00 per month
Master's Degree	$310.00 per month

Benefits

Vacation
Probation thru 10th year of service	15 Days
Beginning 11th thru 15th year of service	18 Days
Beginning 16th year of service	20 Days

Holidays

12 legal Holidays a year.

Military Leave

Firefighters are allowed 15 working days annually.

Equipment

All San Antonio Fire Fighters are provided with a uniform commissary credit and personal protective equipment that meets applicable NFPA standards.

Sick Leave

Accrued at a rate of 15 working days annually.

Insurance

Insurance coverage is provided by the City of San Antonio for firefighters and their immediate family. Insurance benefits provided include Life, Health, Dental, Optical and Legal assistance.

Retirement
With 20 years of service	45% Base Pay
27 years of service	80% Base Pay
30 years of service	86% Base Pay
33 years of service	87.5% Base Pay
